Everybody's favorite event, the Stock Horse Class...broken down into three division, Hackamore, Two Rein, and Bridle horse. These classes, judged by Bobby Ingesoll were great to watch..everyone brought their "A" game..The elements of the class were pretty much "standard"...but the part I like is there was no set pattern, as long as you completed the required elements, you could show your horse like you were trying to "sell" him. Large lope circle, small lope circle, fast, and slow. You know the drill. Lead Change, both directions..at the center of the figure 8. Sliding stop. spin. Back up. Then bring on the cattle. A timed event...acccccccccccccck.... Boxing, run down the fence, turn/roll back all the time keeping control of the cow. "Circle" the cow, making the cow run in a circle, keep control of speed of cow, make a clockwise circle, and counter clockwise circle. Sounds oh so simple...lol. Rope the cow, tie off, and your time stops when ya get back on your horse. It was so much fun! Watching the Hackamore horses put it all together, with all the try they could muster, most of these youngsters were pretty new to being this far from home, and in strange arenas..they rallied and did their riders proud...a little more finesse from the two reiners.. and the Bridle horses were poetry. Sometimes, I think we ARE the luckiest people in the world.
